A quick walk around tour
This was our two car garage four months ago. My first studio was a 10×12 spare bedroom since 2016, and this is spacious compared. It’s just how I imagined it — a sitting area, multiple work surfaces, books and treasures, color and light, view of the river, trees, and did I mention color and light?
I’m hosting a New Year’s Eve free creativity workshop from 11:00 am to 12:30 “Looking Back and Letting Go, Processing 2023” with Rukmini Poddar. She runs the workshop via Zoom and we gather here locally to participate. All supplies provided. No experience required.

Vintage shelf gets a makeover
Went from dark to light in colors I find perfect for my new creative space, Studio Be.
Or as a friend of mine calls it, Studio Be2, the place 2Be. 😊 (Thanks, Eliza Gow).
It’s now in place and filled with books, art, and tiny treasures.
*Used satin finish latex paint and sealed with polycrylic, matte finish. Found a 6” roller worked best for the large surfaces.
Not sure what’s next. Spending time rethinking processes and where best to put things. The HVAC man just installed a register so now we have heat! Except, it’s still pretty cold in there. Fortunately, the heaters help. Next year I may have to install a mini-split to heat and cool just this space.

Construction, renovation, and a social media hiatus
The past four months have consisted of dirty clothes, rough hands, disrupted routines, and chaos in the house where once there was order. I’ve been too busy or exhausted to write or post any updates. I turned 60 during all this and my body reminded me. But, this has been exactly what I have needed to see grief and living through a softer lens.
For now, I’m going to share some of the projects, both completed and still in progress. as I get our old garage converted into my new studio/creative space.
For today, a tiny and whimsical addition to the space in progress.
I removed the handrail on the garage platform in order to hang the Scrabble Board and it left an unpainted spot, which I could have touched up, but instead I added a decal of a mouse writing a novel. Seemed like the better choice.
